Ryan's Story - My son Ryan was diagnosed with autism, and in an instant our lives were changed forever. As my family and I were confronted with this diagnosis, I began my own research and found that autism affects more children than cancer, AIDS, and diabetes combined! I was shocked to find how common autism was among young children. Read more about Ryan!

Computer Story - Thank you for helping our family to get a computer, it now means that my son can come home and finish his math homework. He is a whiz on the computer and the X-Box but has problems with his school work. Also at school, they have him focusing on behavior issues and so learning has taken a back seat to everything else. Dear Michael and ASDF Staff,

I am having a difficult time putting into words how much your organization has helped my son Alex and I. The Social Skills Camp Scholarship that you provided helped me prove that my son can be more than his school system thought he could be. You gave us hope when we were hopeless; you gave us strength when we needed strength. Out of all the Autism organizations I contacted, your foundation helped. It was so easy! As you know, parents and single parents as I am, are overwhelmed with paperwork and trying to do everything, plus the 24/7 job of caring for a family with a child on the spectrum is exhausting. You have been so nice and immediate with your help. Thank you for saving our family and giving my son the self esteem he needed when and where he needed it. Thank you one billion and more times......

Pamela A. on behalf of Alex A. - Rhode Island

Hello Michael,

I received an email from Kris and she informed me that the check was received. I wanted to take this opportunity and thank you once again for your generosity. Of ALL resources out there, yours is the only one that was stress free and extremely helpful. Your have no idea what a rare experience it was for me to actually get help in such a manner. We are usually ready for an uphill battle full of paperwork and waiting lists and dead ends. I am going to push my luck and ask you if this grant is one that I may be able to apply for my son next year or is this a one time deal sort of thing? Either way, I am very thankful for all your help.

God Bless,

Manny B. - California

Hi Michael,

I am really overwhelmed with the scholarship you have offered us for Craig. I truly appreciate it and are very grateful. Craig is in Session 7 and Session 8, we have already paid $100 for a deposit, so the balance is $1900. The camp wanted the money by May 25th, I will make sure they receive it.

Thank you so much,

Lori R. - New Hampshire

Update - Hi again, I wanted to thank you again! Now that Craig is home from camp, I have to tell you what a great time he had and what a great time the rest of our family had together without the stress and worry about Craig. You gave us a tremendous gift and we are thankful.

Lori R.

Dear Michael,

I'm at a loss for words in expressing my sincere gratitude for sponsoring my son to attend a summer sports recreation camp for Autism. Every year we try to find something meaningful for my son to participate in to enhance his quality of life. I applied for Campership Assistance everywhere and was turned down, it is very discouraging for a parent. As parents we give, love and guidance, and finally I found your Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation which gave an answer to my prayers that could help pay for my sons camp tuition. What a relief for a parent; you have provided for families who struggle with finding financial assistance for quality of life recreation for their children with Autism. Your sponsorship gives purpose to our lives and looking towards brighter futures for our children.

God Bless and Many Thanks,

Donna - Massachusetts

Dear Michael,

Without the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation, my children would not have been able to attend a local camp during the summer. The camp included social skills, speech, OT and vision therapy for twelve hours a week. The kids had fun in a safe learning environment and I was able to work. The largest autism organizations in the country do very little to assist real people on the spectrum. ASDF’s unique mission to directly help families is a Godsend.

Dear Michael,

I just received your email. I cannot describe the feeling I have at this very moment. It warms my heart to know that there are foundations and programs out there that can and are willing to help families like mine. I thought I was alone in this. I know there are families like mine but didn't know there are ways to get help. Is there anything else that you need from me? Do I need to fill out a scholarship application or get letter from this doctors or anything? Please let me know. I am going to send in his camp application so he can get enrolled. I was waiting to see if I could get help first. Your foundation has made my son's day. Our family thanks you again.

Annie P. - Massachusetts

Dear Michael,

Thank you so very much for your kindness and for donating the piece of equipment that my daughter needed to enrich her life and make ours easier. Having two children with Autism ages 12 and 10 and being very accustomed to dead ends and no real help for my daughter I had completely given up and quit looking for help. Your organization contacted my Mom asking her to raise money for your foundation and she asked what you could do for her Granddaughter. Mom told me to call you and I rolled my eyes at her and said "sure Mom" but I didn't. Then I got desperate and decided that I could take another disappointment and was absolutely stunned at the ease and of course the fact that you actually helped us!

We are deeply indebted to you and your organization and still cannot really believe our luck.

Thanks again

John & Christina W. - Ohio

Dear Michael,

Thank you for giving my son, Freddie, the opportunity to go to summer camp. We appreciate the time and effort you devoted to helping us. I know that Freddie will enjoy his first camp experience. I'm very fortunate that I found out about your organization. I found ASDF on Google. Hopefully, the economy will allow me to make a donation to your organization before the year ends.

Thanks for everything,

Lori A. R. - Georgia

Dear Michael,

I want to THANK YOU for the scholarship you provided my grandson. We have had custody of him for seven years and sometimes it is very difficult to get through a day with him. This program did so much for him, I just can't express to what extent. He has been very nervous about starting high school and this program seemed to give him some confidence and an enjoyment that was special. He was able to make friends which are very hard for him.

We are retired grandparents and financially it is difficult, but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. Know that I pray that God will give you many blessings.

Sincerely and God be with you,

Ethlyn and Jeffrey U. - Michigan

Good Afternoon Michael,

I am totally in your debt sir. I certainly owe you much more than dollars and cents, I really owe you my lively hood. Do you know how impossible it can be getting from point A to B? If my son Andre, who is Autistic, could put it in so many words, he would thank you as well. With all the doctors appointments, prescriptions, lab work, errands and et cetera that has to be taken care of weekly, it is truly a blessing to have someone like you in their corner. Again Michael, thanks so much. Wish me luck in my job search.

Sincerely,

Courtney D. - Georgia

Hi Michael,

I cannot thank you enough for giving my boys this opportunity. I know that this will be a great experience for them and teach them so much. I am humbled by your generosity and feel so hopeful when I think that there are people who will fight for them and advocate for them when I am unable...that means more to me than I could ever possibly express.

I am excited at the prospect of working with your foundation more - thank you so, so much!!

Sincerely,

Crissy S. - California

Hi Michael,

I would like to thank you and your staff for providing my 3 1/2 year old daughter with a $1,000 scholarship for her to continue the biomedical treatment. Your generous donation will provide the necessary supplements for her to continue to stay on the biomedical diet. She has to take cod liver oil, zinc, methyl B 12 shots and other required supplements to improve her eye contact, behavioral issues, sensory issues, immune system and other symptoms of Autism. I am speechless and just can't put into words how much you have helped my daughter. I am a single parent who has been jobless for almost a year. Your organization has made it possible for her to stay on the right path and defeat autism. There are not many other organizations around such as yours. I pray that you will have large amounts of donations so that you will continue to impact the lives of children with Autism everywhere. Again, I really appreciate everything you have done and I will be praying for the success of your company.

Tonya and Nyla - Tennessee

Dear Michael,

I want to thank you for donating the money for a scholarship to camp this year. My son, Dylan, was lucky enough to be one of the recipients of the scholarship.

My son really enjoys camp. He was able to attend the first two years but unfortunately he was not able to attend last year because of the increase in cost. He was so upset and depressed about it. When he found out he was going this year, it brightened his summer.

The camp is special to all the children. Dylan has made wonderful friends here, he has fun, he laughs and I know, in the back of his mind, he doesn't have to worry about feeling out of place, that no one is judging him and that he can be himself. It is a very positive environment.

I want to thank you again, from the bottom of my heart. I am a single mother and Dylan's father is not involved with him, so this scholarship helped me out as well and I am very appreciative of the help.

Sincerely,

Leslie H. - Michigan

Dear Michael,

Along with my wife Carol, I wish to offer my sincere thanks to you and your foundation for your generous donation in support of my daughter Shelby's therapy. Please be assured it will be put to good use, and I'll send you a note in the future to keep you apprised of Shelby's progress. Although Shelby has a significant disability to overcome, we're confident that with continued early intervention she'll have an excellent chance at having a more "typical" future and reach her full potential.

I send you every good wish.

Sincerely,

James G. - California
